Society has gotten out of touch with humanity. You see this shit EVERYWHERE. "Professionalism" is nothing but a facade anymore, even in the schools. Principal's will say all the right things, but when you bring multiple failures -- with receipts -- to their attention, they just send an email telling you those failures don't align with their policies...and proceed to do absolutely nothing about it. Like a bunch of mindless robots.
Just now, I had a very frustrating experience with a leadership person, and I thought they were professional. However, after doing my hardest to de-escalate the call that leadership person pissed on everything, called the customer sketchy, and talked to me like she gave birth to me. My customer was 1000% happy to be open-minded with her situation. It breaks my heart that sometimes at work not everything is all smiles and progress.
Also, the example you provided is freaking real to the core. My kids are going through something similar and my sister is being my advocate right now, and man…just man… I wish I could say a few words about their version of communication and professionalism as well. Uuugh.
The whole "talking like she gave birth to me" thing.... yeah. Apparently humility has lost it's grip on people, too. Like, there is a thing called 'maybe I can be the one to learn something from this situation'. Or, even just TRY to see things from yours or the clients perspective...isn't that exactly what they are being paid to do? lol. Smh.
I pray that the client at least sees your effort in the situation.
And for whatever is going on at your kids school, keep fighting! Get whatever you can in writing and even record every single verbal interaction you have with them... wish I would have done that from the beginning lol.
Verbally, ours admitted everything. But we had to back them into a corner to get written acknowledgement of one staff members mistakes and another's malice...and took that shit straight to district because they should have been FIRED. District didn't do anything but blow smoke up our asses, of course...cause both staff members are still here. And we can't sue them as per the law. However, now that we have proof to show a history, all we can do is sit tight for when (not if) they make the news cause something worse happens. It's only a matter of time at this point, unfortunately.
My goal whenever I am at work is to be the best one stop shop for my customers. I feel like it’s easier for me to provide them as many answers as I can with the education that follows it instead of passing them along like they are a baton in a relay race.
I know she was just a customer, but there are some I truly think about and wish they are OK or that their problems were solved. While I did not agree with how I was handled, I understood if there was something I was trying to communicate that wasn’t effective enough to help understand the situation on both sides. Regardless, I cannot change the past or randomly call that manager and advise her to be more mindful. I can only use that situation as an example of what not to be at work towards others.
Also, my sister and her husband are top-tier when it comes with documentation. They sent me copies of whatever happens at school so I can review it as well. There are still moments where I wish I could be the main point of contact. However, I trust my sister and her husband’s system is a doable system where at any time anything happens I can trust them to follow through. I still have a lot to learn though, so that’s another journey to talk about once we’re stable.
This!!!!’ I find this is incredibly relevant and important in my job as a therapist. Sometimes people forget that I’m also human and have feelings and go through struggles. Thank you for this, Hari ❤️
You are more than welcome, and your feelings are 1000% valid. When I wrote this originally, it made me take a big reflection into myself and everything I was adding to my place as a contractor. Stressful, for sure, but it was helpful to know that some folks in leadership roles are reminding me that it is okay to be a person and that they’re people too.
This is so spot on!

It's infuriating.
It honestly is annoying!

Uuugh is right.
